The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College (SCTC) has received official notification of approval from the Higher Learning Commission to offer a Bachelor of Arts in Anishinaabe and Indigenous Studies. This exciting milestone will allow SCTC to expand its academic offerings and provide students with more in-depth learning opportunities focused on Anishinaabe and Indigenous histories, cultures, language, knowledge systems, and lifeways.
This achievement reflects years of dedication, collaboration, and vision. Miigwech to everyone who contributed their time, knowledge, and support in building this program. Your efforts have created new opportunities for current and future students to deepen their understanding of Anishinaabe and Indigenous perspectives, strengthen cultural knowledge, and foster meaningful community connections while continuing their education at the next academic level.
The benefits of this work extend far beyond the classroom. The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan and the surrounding community will continue to benefit from expanded access to higher education, creating lasting opportunities for future generations. This program represents an investment in cultural preservation, educational attainment, and community well-being that will have a positive impact for generations to come.

Implementation efforts for the Bachelor of Arts in Anishinaabe and Indigenous Studies program are ongoing, with the program expected to launch in Fall 2027.
