Final Journey
THERESA LYNN JACKSON, age 58, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully Monday, November 3, 2025, at McLaren Central Michigan with her children by her side.
A Celebration of Life for Theresa will take place at the Tribal Gym on Friday, November 14, at 2 p.m. with Sam McClellan officiating. Interment of cremains will immediately follow at Woodland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Tribal Gym following the burial. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene. Envelopes will be available at the Tribal Gym.
Theresa was born August 20, 1967, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Julius and Helen (Pelcher) Peters. She graduated from Beal City High School with the Class of 1985 and later earned her associate's degree from Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College. Theresa married Darryl Clifford Jackson in Mt. Pleasant on March 19, 1988. She was a proud member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. She worked many years for her Tribe, from a summer youth worker to gaming to serving the elders. Theresa was also honored to serve her community as a Tribal Council member alongside her father as well as having served as the third female Tribal Chief. She attended the Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene.
Theresa will be remembered for her generosity; she loved helping others. She had a passion for music, especially a good rock concert. Spending time with her mother and sisters was special to her. Above all, she loved being the best grandma. Other hobbies she enjoyed include decorating for her favorite holidays, crocheting, beading, camping, bowling, watching soap operas, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Theresa is survived by her husband Darryl Jackson; children Joelle Peters (Kevin Shaw), Stephen, Robert, and Maggie Jackson; grandbabies Josclynn, Kenisynn, Anistynn, and Kamerynn Shaw, Leilani, Jace, and Amik Yahbay-Wooten; her mother Helen Jean (Pelcher) Peters; brother Lance (Kristen) Peters; sisters Renee (Bret) Yahbay, Juliane (Mitch) Hinmon; nephew Zack; nieces, Julia (Austin) Katatya, Aleeya, Teralyn, Erica and Novaly; great nephews Remi, Kash, Bronx and Max; mother-in-law Julia Jackson; sisters-in-law Angel, Salina and Tonya Jackson (Steven); brothers-in-law Delmer (Mary) Jackson, Jr, Daniel (Alex) Jackson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Theresa had many friends and family whom she loved and cared for who adored her and will miss her dearly.
Theresa was preceded in death by her father, Julius Peters; maternal grandparents Beatrice (Davis) Peters and Bemis Pelcher; paternal grandparents Wilfred Peters, Sr. and Julia (Otto) Peters; special aunts Bettylou and Beverly; parents-in-law Delmer Jackson, Sr. and Karen Jackson and other beloved family members.
