Antonio J. "Tony" Rodriguez, aka "Willy the Wolverine" or "Jose", age 66, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

 

A Celebration of Life Service for Tony will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel in Mt. Pleasant on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with J.D. Gibson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflection's Reception Center. Tony will be laid to rest at a later date. Memorial considerations may be made to Karma Kat Cafe & Rescue. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

 

Tony was born to parents Lupe and Shirley (Neyome) Rodriguez in Grand Rapids, MI on October 31, 1959. He graduated from Union High School with the Class of 1977, and immediately joined the US Navy. During his service time aboard the USS Miller, Tony earned a Navy Expedition Medal, an Initial Sea Service Ribbon, a Second Sea Service Ribbon, and a Battle Efficiency Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1983. Tony was united in marriage in Petoskey to Mary Shananaquet. He was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and was an avid sports fan, specifically of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and the Michigan Wolverines.

 

Tony is survived by his son, Antonio "Tony" Rodriguez, Jr., of Grand Rapids, stepchildren Dakota Shananaquet and Curtis McFall, Jr., grandchildren Sara, Carolina, Antonio, Abigail, Kasheena, Elena, Carleton, Santiago, DeSantis, Tahla, Lyrus, Luna, Lettie, Justice, Zurihana, Reyna, Curtis III, Henry, Ayaná and Nimkii, sisters Lisa (Abraham) Snyder of Mt. Pleasant and Trisha (Chet) Trasky of Mt. Pleasant, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
